Tis’ the season to be jolly! Fa la la la la, la la la la. We’re here to help you get in the holiday spirit this year with a list of must-do’s before the New Year. Check it out!
Deck the Halls!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No matter what holidays you may celebrate- Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, it’s time to get festive. Whether you are adding tinsel and a topper on your Christmas tree or lighting the menorah, it’s time to gather with loved ones and deck the halls. If you’re looking for somewhere local to select and cut down your own Christmas tree, check out Assateague Farm.
Christmas Cookie Contest
Who doesn’t love a good Christmas cookie?! We’ve noticed that after tasting one delicious cookie, it becomes pretty hard to put the tin down. Gather your friends and family and enjoy a fun Christmas cookie bake off! Each person makes their favorite cookie and afterwards everyone sits down with a glass of milk to judge. Sounds like a sweet time, doesn’t it! Which type is your favorite- gingerbread, sugar, chocolate chip, peanut butter?
Let in the Light
Everyone loves a great light display! If you’re in Ocean City this holiday season, stop by the Winterfest of Lights at Northside Park on 126th Street. Take a ride on the tram as you take in the sounds and sights of Christmas. With over one million lights across 58 acres, it’s something you won’t want to miss. And don’t forget to get a hot cocoa and visit Santa for a photo op! Winterfest has always been an Ocean City favorite whether you’re 7 years old or 70.
Go Sledding...or Surfing
Here in Maryland, the weather can be quite unpredictable. We may or may not have snow before Christmas, you never know. When we don’t have snow, what we do have in Ocean City is surf! No matter what time of year, there’s nothing like catching the perfect wave! If we do have snow, Herring Creek Nature Park in West Ocean City is the place to sleigh all day.
Lend a Helping Hand
Around the holidays people tend to be compelled to give more. It can be as easy as going through your closet and donating coats you no longer wear to a homeless shelter, walking dogs at your local humane society, or paying it forward. The holidays bring people together and motivate them to help one another. This holiday season, lend a helping hand where you are able!
Wishing you a happy holiday from all of us here at ExploreOC!
